PEOPLE with learning disabilities have been doing their bit to raise awareness about the issues facing them.
The New Ideas County Forum, made up of 18 people from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Atherstone, and south Warwickshire, promoted its work at the Royal Priors Shopping Centre, in Leamington, as part of Learning Disability Week.
Members talked to others with learning disabilities about the things that affect them, such as problems with transport, housing, health and jobs.
The theme of this year's Learning Disability Week was Changing Places, Changing Lives which is part of a national campaign for improved toilet facilities. A changing places toilet has a hoist, changing bench, and lots of space.
The New Ideas group played an integral part in getting adapted toilets installed at the borough council offices in Atherstone and at the One Stop Shop, in Shire Hall, Warwick.
The County Forum meets every three months. For details, call 024 7636 1800 or visit www.newideas.org.uk
