Disabled people are still seen as inferior to others, a poll yesterday revealed.
More than half believed that people looked down on those with disabilities or viewed them as victims.
And, alarmingly, a third thought they were seen as a drain on resources.
The poll of 2,000 people was carried out by disability charity Scope.
Organisation chairwoman Alice Maynard said: "Many disabled people have to battle stereotypes, low expectations and sometimes outright hostility in our daily lives."
