Operation 'is to help boy walk'

Surgery that was performed in the United States on a four-year-old boy from Somerset to help him walk has been successful, his parents have said.

Henry Ford, from Midsomer Norton, has cerebral palsy which affects his leg muscles making them painful to use.

Henry will need at least two years of intensive physiotherapy but his American surgeon told his parents he would one day be able to walk unaided.

Poly Ford, Henry's mother said the surgery had changed his future.

The £35,000 operation was paid for with fundraising events carried out by people from the couple's home town.
