Getting into Work, Working Families’ new booklet for parents of disabled children who want to return to the workplace, is here. In full colour, with photographs of parents and their families, it was written with in-put from our network of working parents of disabled children and there are sections on: · What sort of job?
· Where to find jobs
· Filling in application forms and writing CVs
· Going for interviews
· Time off and flexible working
· Self-employment
· Care
· Finance
and there is a list of useful organisations and web sites.
I can supply you with paper copies of the attached flyer for distributing to parents and professionals. Individual copies of the booklet can be obtained by sending Working Families an A5 sae (76p).
Please contact the office for the cost of a combined order of the new booklet and our book Make it work for you! about how parents are combining paid work and caring for their disabled children.
I am also available to talk to groups of parents and/or interested professionals in the London area about the information in the booklet and the support Working Families can provide to parents of disabled children who want to work. I can be contacted on 020 7017 0072 or janet.mearns@workingfamilies.org.uk .
