Inspirational students are nominated for award

A TRIO of inspiring adult students who have overcome barriers to learning have been nominated for a national award.
The Peterborough Regional College (PRC) students will get to hear if they have been successful at an awards ceremony on Tuesday.

Anthea Hale, Drew Jovi and Farzanah Pakan have all been nominated for the Adult Learners' Week Award.

The nominated PRC students have all academically achieved their goals, regardless of their personal situation, through their determination to go the extra mile.

Farzanah came to the UK six years ago with limited knowledge of English, as well as having a disability which makes walking very painful.

Drew came back to college after a 16-year break and discovered she was dyslexic.

And Anthea who also discovered she was dyslexic, battled with cancer while successfully achieving her qualifications.

Co-ordinator of nominations at the college Leaha Green said: "The students are an inspiration to others and set a good example of how education can create positive thinking and maximise confidence, as well as opening doors to further learning or an exciting new career path."
