Kidderminster company fights recession

A KIDDERMINSTER company has been bucking the trend after finding 34 people new jobs last month despite the current recession.

Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG), based in Church Street, has been working with Shaw Trust to provide employment opportunities to disabled and disadvantaged people.

The PPDG/Shaw Trust partnership creates new vacancies with charitable organisations by subsidising wages so that positions can be created with organisations which would normally be unable to afford extra staff.

Centre manager, Jennifer Nixon, said: “Thanks to the partnership, we have been able to give extra help to those who need it most and place even more people back into employment than we would have been able to otherwise.

“We believe that clients who walk through the doors of PPDG deserve the chance to get back into a job.

“Our employment coaches and the Shaw Trust area co-ordinator have all worked exceptionally hard turning opportunities into realities for our clients.”

Shaw Trust’s employment co-ordinator, Joanne Goode, said: “Our relationship with PPDG is a great example of partnership working and we look forward to even closer working and getting more disabled clients back into employment in the future.”
