Force 4 Change was named by the first members of the group who attended the launch meeting. We are an exciting new project aiming to develop a social care user forum for disabled people, designed and led by disabled people.
For the very first time the three local disability organisations of Mosaic (shaping disability services), Vista ( society for the blind ) and Action Deafness have joined forces to encourage and support this innovative venture.
The ultimate aim is to provide an opportunity, for those that wish to, to identify the gaps in the services provided under the Adult Social Care Policy and make their opinions known.
Sometimes, there are guest speakers, exercises to complete or an open discussion. The group decide what takes place.
The monthly meetings are held on a Saturday at Action Deafness, 135, Welford Rd, Leicester, between the hours of 11am and 3pm. A buffet lunch is provided. The venue is fully accessible and interpreters are available. The forum is open for those aged 18 to 65, who live in the county.
The next meeting is on the 18th April 2009.
